Label TextElectuarium Diaphoenicum was an "electuary having a purgative action. It was compounded from dates, scammony, turpeth root, and other ingredients. Used in treatment of lethargy, dropsy, paralysis, and certain other ailments."

The birds on the upper corners of the cartouche are called songbirds to distinguish them from the peacocks that were extremely popular on Dutch jars but rarely appear on cartouches on English examples.
