DescriptionCream silk satin bed counterpane, hand painted with a central medallion in the style of Jean Berain (1661-1715), with scrolling flowers growing from inner corners and isolated floral clusters in the field. Outer borders consist of cornucopia and flowering scrolls. Painted in red, blue, yellow, purple, orange, and green with silver outlines. Three panels, seamed vertically at selvages. Selvages have yellow ribbed outside edges with dark blue and cream satin stripes; temple holes present.MarkingsTemple holes in selvages, indicating Chinese weaving
