DescriptionChimney vase (garniture); beaker-shaped with wide spreading rim and spreading base. Bluish tin glaze decorated in blue with a fairly random pattern of tightly massed circles and dots; two reserves on each vase, painted with oriental landscapes containing houses, trees, and water. On bottom of vase, the numeral 4.Label TextA complete garniture, as found in porcelain, particularly Chinese export porcelain, from which these are copied, normally consists of two beakers and three jars. This set originally may have consisted of five pieces, but no complete garniture appears to be recorded in English delft and matching beakers and jars are rare. The 4 on all three pieces further confirms their intended use as an ensemble.
