DescriptionNeedlework panel: Red (Munsell 5R 3/8) serge, i.e., woolen warp and weft in regular twill weave; decorated with vertical undulating floral vines worked in tent stitch, in silks and crewels on pre-woven canvas which has been cutout and appliqued to the serge ground. These embroidered and cut-out motifs were called 'slips'. Embroidery colors include reds, pinks, blues, yellow, brown, greens, and black. Originally trimmed with gold silk fringe, most of which has deteriorated.
