DescriptionBust of Lafayette. Three-quarter view. With Lafayette looking slightly to proper right. The military uniform associated with the American War for Independence. The hair styled as a wig. The back fully finished. On a square spreading pedestal base. The upper portion of the base with swags of laurel leaves. The lower portion of the base with ogee molding. The outside rear of the base impressed with "DELAFAYETTE." The unglazed stoneware body a dark putty in color with areas showing evidence of tonal overpainting, evidently somewhat later.Inscribed"DELAFAYETTE" impressed on back of plinth
