DescriptionSoft-paste porcelain cup with slightly everted rim and trimmed foot. The exterior has been painted mazarine blue and then decorated with gilded foliated scrolls, diaper border, and floral sprays. There is gilding on the foot. The handle has been highlighted with gilding. The interior is white with a gild floral spray at the bottom of the cup. Label TextEven though the Chelsea workmen were unable to maintain an even, clear, ground color, the high quality of the gilding on this cup compares with that on the best Sevres and Meissen. Two identical cups, also lacking their saucers, are in the collection of the Museum of London.
