DescriptionOval dish with a wavy edge painted with a brown line is decorated in overglaze enamels with bouquet and small sprigs of flowers, in red-orange, purple, blue, yellow, and green, some concealing imperfections in the glaze.Red anchor period.
Label TextMost tea services listed in the 1755 and 1756 Chelsea catalogs, including those described as "compleat," contained no dish for holding the spoons. On occasion, though, a listing of the contents of a tea service might end "and a spoon boat, scollopt in flowers and green leaves."
