DescriptionOctagonal, handless cup (tea bowl) with brown line around edge painted in overglaze enamels with "fable decoration" with a scene of "The Lion and the Fox." The lion, his tail extended, is looking over his left shoulder at the crouching fox. A few blue clouds in the sky, green and yellow grass, brown and green trees, blue mountain and lake, and red and black rocks in the foreground. The interior is painted with pink and yellow flowers and a flying insect.Probably raised anchor period.
Label TextThe two figures from the fable "The Fox and the Lion" appear on this tea bowl in the same positions, but closer together in both Barlow and Croxall, the Barlow being a mirror image.
