DescriptionSoft-paste porcelain saucer with eight lobed molded rim. The molded decoration in relief resembles a tea-plant. At the center of the saucer is a flower with eight petals that align with the eight lobes. There are four branches with flowers that radiate from the central flower. The branches spiral clockwise.Label TextThis appears to be the only recorded Chelsea saucer in the tea-plant pattern. Although the raised branches swirling from the center rosette make it seem slightly awkward as a saucer, it holds a tea-plant beaker quite securely. Wear on the top of the branches, where the beaker sits, indicates that it has for some time been used to hold a vessel of that size. It is also approximately the same size as the three surviving saucers in the Chelsea acanthus pattern.
