ProvenanceThese tables are probably the "2 Mahogony Dining Tables" made by Robert Carter of New York for L 10 and billed to "Mr. Elmendorf" on Aug. 28, 1793, the year of his marriage to his first wife. The tables then probably went to his daughter Maria, wife of Peter Sanders; their son Charles P; and their son Livingston who married Addie Ten Broeck and who owned the tables before their purchase by Mr. Plamiter. The tables were not at Scotia when purchased (see comments of Mrs. J. Glen in OF between 1964-205& 206)
