Label TextA plate from Denis Diderot's Encyclopédie, ou dictionnaire raisonné des sciences, des arts et des métiers" on papermaking found in "Recueil de Planches, vol. V." The paper is now in the final stage of being polished, folded and counted into bundles of folios, and then compressed in order to put into bundles. These tasks are for the most part done by children. The upper part of the print shows them at work. The bottom shows some of the machinery necessary for it.
