DescriptionWindsor comb back settee; shaped crest rail with scalloped center, peaks, and rounded ears; crest supported by twenty three spindles mortised through the arm rail; arms curve outward from back and terminate in round disks; arms supported by turned baluster over baluster shaped supports under each arm terminals and thirty one spindles; elongated D shaped dished seat; eight turned and splayed legs, front four turned with baluster shaped elements over a ball and rounded foot, rear legs unembellished; legs connected by side and medial stretchers with swollen centers between each pair of front and rear legs; painted green.
ProvenanceVendor acquired from Cdr. Hart of Chipping Campden. Given to him by Charles Wade of Snowshill Manor, near Broadway, Worcestershire. The Wade family was from the island of St. Kitts in the British West Indies and their estate house there was broken up in the 1930s.
