DescriptionInfant child's cap, matching bearing cloth #1, made of brown silk with metallic gold & silver threads woven in tightly-scrolling floral and stem pattern. The cap is assembled of three pieces, edged with white linen bobbin lace (which appears to be a replacement.) Thread loops at the ears are for fastening ties. Remnants remain of a carnation silk ribbon, 3/8" wide, in the thread loops. The cream linen lining appears to be a later replacement. The cap seams were once trimmed, as evidenced by thread pickings, which remain.ca. 1785
