DescriptionRectangular straight-sided flower pot or flower brick with one large and twenty-seven smaller round holes in a recessed top. Blue tin glaze decorated in blue with two wide horizontal bands of a scrolling pattern separating a central voided band; outlining around large hole.Label TextThe same pattern seen on this brick also is found on a large dish in the CWF collection (accession 1990-151). Only one other published brick has been assigned to Glasgow based on its decoration, which also has been ascribed to Dublin. That design is represented by a butter tub (CWF accession 1982-153). Several fragments with this pattern have been excavated on the site of the Delftfield pottery in Glasgow. Fragments of dishes, plates, and a coffee cup in this pattern have been excavated on several sites in Williamsburg, including the Brush-Everard House (29FB.0008), the Jones cellar at the Public Hospital (4CB), and Wetherburn's Tavern (9NA).
