DescriptionRectangular leather-covered document box lined with pink wallpaper. Hinged flat top ornamented with brass tacks in oval around central brass handle and oval backplate, outlining top edges and arced at corners with single brass tack in center of wedge shape. Front facade has central iron lock outlined in brass tacks with lower corners decorated with arced corners with central single tack. Key (in key box) fits lock. Wallpaper with light pink ground with printed pattern of four darker pink diamonds in diamond shape around pink dot all surrounded by white arcs and dots, intersperced with darker pink four-pointed star with dots around it. Leather strap nailed to inside of lid and box on proper left end.MarkingsOval printed label inside lid with star motif creating edge of oval, "JOHN LUTZ,/ High-Street,/ GEORGETOWN, District of Columbia." with eagle facing to proper left holding arrows in left talon atop shield with banner and solid dark over vertical stripes flanked by foliage.
