DescriptionRectangular box with hinged lid, with iron butt hinges, covered in leather with decorative brass tacks ornamenting top and front; top and edges of box outlined in brass tacks, top ornamented with incurving corners and scrollwork of brass tacks around brass round bail and rosette handle in center of lid; front has incurving lower corners of brass tacks and swag with "tassels" on front; brass pierced rococo escutcheon on front, center of box. Lined with marbled paper; paper printed maker's label in lid: "Trunks in Nests for Exportation. JOHN VINEY, 48 Cornhill." Fabric tape nailed to inside of lid and case on both ends with brass tacks (replaced). Fragments of printed book pages adhered to underside of bottom board.MarkingsPrinted label inside lid: "Trunks in Nests for Exportation./ JOHN VINEY./, 48, Cornhill." with images of a trunk, portmanteau, fire bucket with initials "GR" and a document box.
