DescriptionWomen's lace sleeve ruffles, Needle Lace, " Point d'Alencon." Hexagonal twisted mesh ground ('bride tortille'). One edge of ruffle with engrelure (inexpensive bobbin lace insert to protect fine lace from where it attaches to garment), the other edge with small scallops formed by two intertwining leafy vines interspersed with alternating designs of leaves and sprigs. This swag and floral design is characteristic of Alencon lace.Construction History:
