DescriptionVest made from antique apron of white silk taffeta embroidered with polychrome silk and metallic thread. The border design consists of scrolling flowers connecting pairs of trumpet-like flower holders which frame a heart. The field of the apron (now the back of the vest) has a basket of flowers in each bottom corner and in the center. The embroidery intended for pockets is outlined with smaller scale floral border. The pockets were not made up, but now form the shoulder area of the vest. The vest is lined with pongee silk with weights in the front corners.ProvenanceEx Coll: Tomlinson.
