DescriptionWoman's short apron. Cream silk taffeta embroidered down sides, hem and around slits intended for pockets (not cut) with a 2 to 2 5/8" wide band of undulating floral embroidery, worked in satin and stem stitch with reds shading to pink, blues, lavenders, yellows with green stems and leaves. Original waistband does not survive. Note: embroidery is reversible. Photographed on mannequin with gown dating to around 1745.
