DescriptionSugar dish and cover with raised, paneled oval urn-shaped body with concave shoulder and concave, stepped oval pedestal foot; tall, conforming concave lid with slightly domed platform and cast urn shaped finial soldered in place. Body and lid ornamented with wriggle-work concave swags and dots.
InscribedEngraved monogram "CDB" in foliate script on one side, framed by crossed leafy branches tied with ribbon. Crossed branches with no monogram on the other side
MarkingsMarked in relief on outside of foot 1) "W.G.Forbes" in rectangle; 2) eagle's head in an oval; and 3) sheaf of wheat in rectangle
