DescriptionUrn-shaped sugar dish with sixteen evenly spaced flutes and concave circular shoulder. Base consists of square plinth and circular concave foot. Circular concave lid is surmounted by a low dome and a circular urn-shaped finial. Sides of body engraved with narrow band of meandering vine above bright cut swags and tassels. Foot engraved with leaves and scallop border.InscribedFoliate script monogram "JW" engraved on side of body.
Markings"WH" stamped in relief in rectangle on side of base (Mark "E", page 553 of Patricia E. Kane, Colonial Massachusetts Silversmith and Jewelers (Yale University Art Gallery, 1998).
