DescriptionRevolving epergne: Wirework basket with wavy rim, fits into reeded base with wirework between a wider reeded band; supported on four open scrolls, suspending four smaller baskets; each basket has a small reeded base with wirewok sides, a wavy rim, and wavy handle; the upper structure is mounted on a ball with the ability to pivot around a round base with further wirework and reeded rim on three ball feet.Label TextFused silverplate wire-work epergnes and baskets became popular in the last decades of the 18th century. This large example features a revolving mechanism in the sphere atop its base.
