DescriptionOld Sheffield or fused silverplate wirework egg cup stand with attached salt dish, six removable egg cups, and six horizonal loops to hold egg spoons. Stand: Six ball feet support six upright posts connected to upper and lower shaped wire frames. Upper frame with horizontal round loops for egg cups and small D-shaped loops for egg spoons, and with pierced oval platform beneath an integral oval salt dish with fixed upright handle and gilt interior. Egg cups: Six removable egg cups, each with a round stepped foot, urn-shaped cup with plain midband, and gilt interior.Label TextWith six egg cups, loops for egg spoons, and an affixed salt dish, this fused silverplate egg cup frame features all of the desirable elements for serving boiled eggs in the most elegant manner. The gilded interiors of the egg cups and salt dish are both stylish and practical, as the gold prevented tarnish from the chloride in the salt and the sulfer in the egg yokes.
