DescriptionWoman's neck kerchief of sheer white cotton, embroidered along one corner (two sides) using white linen in dense scrolling floral design with large areas of openwork. Embroidered primarily using shadow embroidery and chain stitches. One corner is marked "MI" in white thread. Reapplied to old sheer cotton, possibly at an early date. (Photographed on eighteenth-century silk gown)
