DescriptionWoodblock printed and quilted cover for a sleigh bed with raised inserts to cover bolsters on either end. Cover has short extension on the back side and longer drop on the front, probably indicating use on a bed set in an alcove. Textile is printed on plain-woven coarse cotton in a design of stripes with bunches of flowers and feathers tied with tasselled ropes against a dotted ground. Floral stripes alternate with narrower scalloped-edge red stripes with undulating floral trail patterns. Printed in red and blue with small areas of brown. Seams of the raised insets for bolsters are turned to the outside and bound with white tape used on the straight grain. Coarsely quilted in large diamonds with pencil lines for quilting still visible in areas. Backings of coarse cottons; cotton batting.Inscribed"lingerie [de] lit"
