Label TextThis print, depicting the month of January, is part of a set of twelve prints representing the months of the year. Themed sets, such as this were popular throughout the eighteenth-century in England and America. A young woman attired in a cape with fur trim, muff, hat over cap, white apron and full lace cuffs on her gown, watches river to watch skaters on a frozen body of water. The landscape is of winter, with no leaves on the trees. There is a large house in the distance. Her dog looks on from the fountain behind her, which is not working due to the cold.
