ProvenanceThis, as well as the two-handled covered cup (1942-37) and the pair of salvers (1945-16,1-2), were last owned by William Randolph Grymes of Orange, Virginia. The history of ownership of these and other items was given by the last owner as follows: "The...tangible personal property was inherited by the said William Randolph Grymes from his mother, Lucy Randolph Grymes, who inherited the same from Elizabeth Randolph Daniel who was a daughter of Judge Peter Vivian Daniel of the Supreme Court of the United States, she being a grand-daughter of Edmund Randolph, her mother being his daughter, Lucy Nelson Randolph."
