DescriptionCandlestick and bobeche of opaque white enamel on copper; purple (puce) transfer printed decoration. Removable bobeche with a six-lobed cupped flange and socket. Raised gilt scroll design on top of flange. Candlestick with straight sided socket (to receive bobeche) with collar below. The upper portion of modified true baluster form joined by double gilt mount on lower portion consisting of two cushion knops. Base: swirled instep on circular domed base with six flutes dividing sides into six lobes; gilt mount on foot. Decoration: side of socket has two vignettes of landscapes, each framed in raised gilt rococo scrolls; on stem a raised gilt floral pattern; on lobes of base are vignettes of landscapes, each framed in raised gilt rococo scrolls.ProvenanceVendor: Stoner & Evans, Inc., New York
