White tin glaze decorated in blue with the inscription "WHIT 1654" and figure-eight swirls beneath.Label Text"Whit" is a shortened form of the word "white," for "white wine," the term used in England at least since 1300 to differentiate the clear, yellow and slightly pink wines from the reds.
