DescriptionMan's coat of black fine worsted knit, trimmed with tassles and braid. Coat has high standing collar, long sleeves curving over elbows and ending in narrow cuffs, pocket flaps and functional pockets. Front cut to curve over chest. Second, third and fourth buttonholes are cut open and functional. Pleats at sides and center back vent. Lined with black silk twill and plain woven linen in sleeves and center back. Two different interfacings consisting of plain woven natural linen and sized black buckram of bast fiber. White heavy napped cotton padding in chest. Sewn with backstitches. Fronts and hems sewn with slanted stitches on the lining side that come through to the front as top stitching.ProvenanceOwned by Cora Ginsburg;
