DescriptionChild's slat-back Windsor armchair with bamboo style turnings; painted red with floral decoration on the broad slat (crest rail) and bamboo turnings picked out in gold. Acquired with a 20th century seat pad made from braided nylons.ProvenanceThis child's armchair descended in the donor's husband's family. Prior to being used by her children, the chair was used by her husband, Clarence Leon Moyer (b.1916 in Allentown, PA), and his father, Clarence Moyer. According to the donor, the chair was owned and/or made by her husband's grandfather Andrew Benner of Souderton, Pennsylvania. This may be Andrew Barndt Benner (1862-1929), son of Jonathan Hunsberger Benner (1823-1901) and Catherine Barndt (m. 1848), of Souderton, PA.
