DescriptionThis is a rectangular textile fragment of roller-printed cotton in alternating stripes of 1) scrolling leafy fronds each containing a bird, liberty cap, and shield with the motto "1876 PEACE" with a spread eagle perched atop each grouping; and 2) scrolling leafy fronds each containing a "1776" bell with a trophy group of flags, drums, and cannons. The colors are brown, orange, red, and blue. A narrow stripe between the larger stripes of leafy fronds contains the slogan, "LIFE, LIBERTY,AND THE PURSUIT OFHAPPINESS."Inscribed"PEACE 1876" "1776" "LIFE, LIBERTY, AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS"
