DescriptionSilver punch or lemon strainer with circular bowl embellished with a single bead at the rim. Affixed to each side is a "C" shaped handle of half-oval section with applied ball ends. The interior of the bowl is filled with a geometric pattern of circular piercings (of one size) forming a flower pattern within a double circle.Label TextThough simple in function, silver strainers were airy, attractive, and reminiscent of the porringer. The ever-present companion to the ladle and punchbowl, a strainer was necessary to keep unwanted particles from entering the mixture and dampening a thoroughly enjoyable beverage.
MarkingsCenter of bowl struck on the bottom with "I C" in relief within a rectangle.
