DescriptionSilver punch or lemon strainer with circular bowl with an applied moulding at the rim. Affixed to one side is a suspension hook with a tab-shaped handle set into it. The interior of the bowl is filled with a geometric pattern of circular piercings (of one size) created from overlayed eight-pointed stars of increasing size, all contained within an eight-petalled flower design.Label TextThough simple in function, silver strainers were airy, attractive, and reminiscent of the porringer. The ever-present companion to the ladle and punchbowl, a strainer was necessary to keep unwanted particles from entering the mixture and dampening a thoroughly enjoyable beverage.
InscribedSuspension hook scratched with "BB333."
MarkingsSuspension hook struck with "BT" in relief in script capitals, within a rectangle with incurving left and right sides.
