DescriptionPlates: each of circular shape with foot ring; decorated with underglaze blue, iron red, and gold (Imari colors); the broad everted rims each painted with a border of hatched lines alternating directions in a zig-zag fashion; a border of four alternating red and blue floral swags between a single blue band adjacent to the zig-zag border and two concentric blue lines at the interior border; the well painted with a single floral sprig within a blue outlined circular reserve, alternating blue and red flower sprays radiating from the interior circle, all within two concentric blue lines; the undersides painted with two stylized prunus branches.ProvenanceDescended in the Tucker families of New York and Bermuda. Passed down to Catharine Fitch Tucker [February 28, 1879-August 22, 1970] of Paget, Bermuda, who gifted the piece to her nephew, Edward Bolton (Teddy) Tucker, MBE [May 8, 1929-June 9, 2014]; it then descended to his daughter Wendy Susan Tucker who subsequently gifted it to the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation in 2024.
