DescriptionWash Basin: short foot ring supports slightly flared bowl with rolled rim; the opaque white tin-glaze undecorated on the exterior; the interior painted with a blue ermine border above two concentric blue lines; the well painted in blue, green and red with a central stylized floral motif within three concentric blue lines.Label TextThe utilitarian nature of ceramic wares associated with hygiene makes the objects rare above ground survivals. This small wash basin is just such an object and closely relates to archaeological evidence found in Williamsburg, home to numerous tin-glazed earthenware finds with Bristol origins.
