DescriptionCup: wine cup or chocolate cup of elongated slightly flared shape on a short foot. Decorated in underglaze blue with four lotus-leaf shaped panels each with a blossoming prunus branch, the negative space between the top of the panels with six trefid scallops evenly spaced on a blue ground; the interior rim with a hatched border; the well of the cup painted with a central stylized flower; the underside of the foot with a beribboned lozenge within concentric blue lines.
ProvenanceDescended in the Tucer families of New York and Bermuda. Passed down to Catharine Fitch Tucker [February 28, 1879-August 22,1970] of Paget, Bermuda, who gifted the piece to her nephew, Edward Bolton (Teddy) Tucker, MBE [May 8, 1929-June 9, 2014]; it then descended to his daughter Wendy Susan Tucker who subsequently gifted it to The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, Williamsburg, VA in 2024.
