DescriptionGlobular-bodied bottle with tall cylindrical neck, saucer-shaped lip, and molded base. Bluish tin glaze decorated in blue around the body with panels of Chinese lotus and scroll pattern; a band of scrolls above it and elongated leaf sprays pendent from lip.Label TextThis Chinese lotus decoration is found on delft made in Dublin, Liverpool, and London as well as on the Continent (see CWF accession 1955-213). Fragments with the lotus pattern have been excavated in London at Vauxhall. A small shard decorated with this pattern was excavated in Williamsburg at Wetherburn's Tavern (9NA.1524). The shape of the bottle suggests the London attribution.
