DescriptionBowl with nearly cylindrical foot ring. Bluish tin glaze with blue powder ground on the exterior. On the interior, five fish around the rim and a dog-headed "dolphin" in the center; outlining in manganese with pale mixed-green and yellow wash; detailing in orange.Label TextThe blue ground on this punch bowl relates to that on a London-shaped puzzle jug in the Colonial Williamsburg collection (accession 1951-127). Three rim fragments of a bowl with powdered manganese exterior and fish in the same colors around the interior were excavated in Williamsburg at the Tayloe House and the sites of the Anthony Hay House and that Hay Cabinetmaking Shop (28DB.1413).
