DescriptionLarge white salt-glazed stoneware jug decorated with black, pink, green, yellow, and turquoise. Thrown body of inverted baluster shape with slightly flared rim. Angular hand-shaped pouring lip opposite wide extruded loop handle with fine soft ribbing on spine. Belly rests on simple circular footring turned to have a waist. Bottom of foot incised to shallow footring. Enamelling-- centered under pouring lip are black precise (almost type face) capital letters "H.W." over a pink, green and yellow foliate framed cartouche bearing masonic symbols in sepia in center composed of pair of doric columns on plinths (with 4 stairs in between) supporting keystoned arch inscribed "Love the ¬keystone¦ Brother-hood." Below the keystone is a black "G" flanked to left and right with moon and sun partially concealed by arch. Below, in sepia, are 7 stars around a trowl, sword, mallet, square, dividers, level with plumb. Above arch is an open eye with eyebrow in fine lined black with black rays descending to arch. Simple small turquoise blue daisy with yellow center and green leaves to either side of pouring lip. Large sprigs of 7 bluebells with green and yellow leaves flank cartouche on belly.
