DescriptionOne plate from a set of eight octagonal plates with incised foot rings (accessions 1960-927 through 1960-934) and three graduated octagonal platters with raised foot rings 1960-935, 1960-936, and 1960-937). Bluish tin glaze decorated in blue: in the wells, a Chinese basket of flowers and feathers surrounded by a stylized band; on the rims, four Chinese flower groupings. On reverse, three scrolled lines on the rims; on one platter, a leaf shaped mark on the base.Label TextAlthough much of the delft made and decorated in Dublin is quite distinctive, some of the more routine pieces are indistinguishable from those made in Liverpool.
Shards from dishes of this shape, decorated in this pattern, and believed to have been in graduating sizes have been excavated in a 1770s context at the Miles Brewton House in Charleston, South Carolina.
