DescriptionGlobular jar with high pedestal base, everted rim, knopped spout, and strap-loop handle (partly missing). Bluish tin glaze decorated in blue with standard dragon cartouche, inscribed "OXYMEL SCILL." Base glazed.Label TextOxymel Scilliticum was made from the bulb of a sea onion, which was mixed with clarified honey and vinegar and reduced to a syrupy consistency. Greek and Roman physicians used it to treat chest ailments.
