DescriptionInfant's shirt of knitted white cotton in stockinette stitch, with diamond shape geometric patterned borders running lengthwise down sleeves, vertically down center front and back, and around hems. Squared neckline, open down front. Long sleeves without gussets. Unlined.
Label TextScholars disagree on the dates of knitted cotton waistcoats, such as this. Some assign them to the seventeenth century; others feel they date no earlier than the first quarter of the eighteenth century.
