DescriptionInfant's shirt with long sleeves, open at the front without closures, without collar or cuffs. The shirt is of white cotton knitted in a star pattern on center front and sleeves. Narrow linen tape is sewn to center fronts about 2 3/4" down from neckline.Label TextScholars disagree on the dates of similar knitted cotton waistcoats, of which a number survive in museum collections. Some assign them to the seventeenth century; others feel they date no earlier than the first quarter of the eighteenth century.
