DescriptionOval gold mourning brooch or pendant with plain gold back fitted with pin and catch and gold ring at top; outside edge of face set with thirty two pearls framing a sepia miniature painting on ivory covered with glass; miniature shows man and woman grieving before a large obilisk with weeping willows in background; band of white encircles painting inscribed with verse. ProvenanceFCB stands for Frances Courtenay Baylor, born October 10, 1779 and died april 3, 1780. She was the infant daugher of Colonel John Baylor and Frances Norton Baylor and is buried at "Circle of Oaks", the family plantation at New Market, Caroline County, Virginia.
