DescriptionWoman's triangular forehead cloth to wear with a matching cap, or coif, #1974-109, 1. The triangular natural-color linen piece is embroidered with black silk in scrolling leaf and thistle design. Two short tabs at widest points. Needlework stitches include back, detached chain, herringbone, running, single, and stem. No lining. Black needlework is fragile and missing in areas, though the stitch holes still survive.Label TextForehead cloths, also called cross cloths, were worn with caps, covering the hair on the forehead. The point was worn toward the back of the head.
