DescriptionTwo block and turned headposts with vase form finials and 'biscuit' feet; two block and turned footposts with 'biscuit' feet and no finials; shaped headboard with two elliptical arches centering a small semi-circular arch; all four rails have full bead on top outer edge, half bead on bottom outer edge, and tenons at each end for mortises in posts; head and foot rails notched at both ends to receive tongues on each end of the side rails; rails drilled horizontally for ropes.Woods: Posts and rails - maple; Headboard - white pine
MarkingsRoman numeral assembly marks on posts and at end of each rail.
ProvenancePurchased by donor in 1975 from Brimfield Antiques, Brimfield, Massachussetts, who had in turn purchased the bed from John Walton, Jewett City, Connecticut in 1974.
