DescriptionSauceboat, of relatively broad shape and wide neck, with the rim "drawn in" behind the handle. The body with molded strap fluting and rococo-shaped cartouches and flaring foot. The handle of double ogee form with flare at bottom terminal and additional scroll at upper to form thumb rest. With green-blue glaze over white body. Blue scale ground. Pronounced, chunky foot ring. Inside bottom with large spray of purple primroses. Green leaves to inside of body under upper terminal of handle. Spray of pink-ish roses to inside neck of spout. With two main reserves of oval form to the body, a smaller round reserve to the outside of the spout, a series of leaf shaped reserves forming a loose garland around the upper perimeter of the sauceboat, two reserves to the handle. The cavetto of the foot undecorated. The foot proper with gilt sprays. The reserves decorated with related, albeit differing floral sprays, including roses, primroses, cornflowers, columbine, violets, and daisies in polychrome. The reserve borders integrally modelled, but also accented with gilt net-work and shell-work. The reserves on the handle forming bellflowers and drops in gilt. The flowers very much in the style of James Giles, and probably executed there or at equivalent workshop, possibly at the factory.Inscribedno
