DescriptionA covered milk jug of baluster form over small, vertical foot ring with applied angularly-shaped applied handle. Sharp, fairly angular spout. The body with two large oval reserves, each with a scene of a bird, bordered in gilt scrolls, tassels, and flowers. The body also with several sprays of gilt flowers and a gilt band to top of vertical foot ring and top of spout. Gilt to top of spout now worn from contact with unglazed flange of slightly domed cover. The cover with fairly realistic applied flower finial, counterbalanced with small gilt spray. The cover also with two reserves flanking flower-form knop.One cartouche on the body with large bird in rust, magenta, purple crouching and looking skyward. The other with bird of similar coloring looking over shoulder. Both birds against a twig-like plant with green foliage and some small pink-red berries. The two cartouches on the cover each with a different form of insect.
