DescriptionSide chair; cupid bow crest rail with carved scallop shell in center and plain remaining portion ending in scrolled ears. Vase shape pierced splat in a design of three open fan-shaped panels with cross banding inserted into a shaped shoe piece which in turn is connected to the back seat rail. Plain conforming stiles supporting crest rail and continuing downward to form back stump legs. Rectangular seat, side and front seat rails have a moulded upper edge with rounded front corners. The lower edge of the seat rails on the front and two sides are finished in a design of an elongated arch. Carved scallop shell in center of front seat rail, side rails are mortised through back legs. The two front legs are cabriole and terminate in trifed feet. Original pine slip seat frame.Woods: Primary wood is walnut, with southern yellow pine corner blocks (original) and white pine or southern yellow pine slip seat frame (original).
Markings"LLLL" carved into rear rail inside.
